What kind of checkout experience does buyer get with Amazon Pay?

(Below numbers correspond to those on the chart on the left)

  1. The buyer clicks on the Amazon Pay button to start checkout.
  2. The buyer signs in, confirms their preferred payment instrument, and optionally selects a shipping address on the Amazon Pay Hosted page.
    The buyer clicks "Continue" button.
  3. The buyer is redirected back to your order review page for confirmation. The buyer clicks "Place Order" button.
  4. The buyer is redirected to Amazon hosted page, and completes checkout by responding to the multi-factor authentication (identity validation) challenge, if prompted, or by selecting another payment instrument if payment was declined.
  5. Amazon Pay redirects the buyer back to your confirmation page.

When do I use APB?

Use APB (Additional Payment Button) when;

  • Amazon Pay is used for digital contents
  • The buyer already logged in with your site and selected shipping address saved at your site, or input shipping address manually and selected Amazon Pay as a payment method
Note that you should always choose the best solution for the buyer, and we don't recomment to use APB for cases other than above.

  1. The buyer clicks on the Amazon Pay button to start checkout.
  2. The buyer signs in, confirms their preferred payment instrument on Amazon hosted page. Shipping address and charge amount provided by merchant are also shown on the page. The buyer clicks on “Pay Now” button to proceed.
    The buyer completes checkout on the Amazon Pay Hosted page by responding to the multi-factor authentication (identity validation) challenge, if prompted, or by selecting another payment instrument if payment was declined.
  3. Amazon Pay redirects the buyer back to your confirmation page.
note

In case of APB, place order takes place on Amazon Pay Hosted page. So merchant will show Amazon Pay button at the very last step of checkout flow.
